Introduction

This is a role playing game with people joining animal clans and going on adventures. For those of you who don't know what a role playing game is, it is usually played with pen and paper and gaming dice of various types and you make characters to play out as, like in a video game. It is stressed that you try to accept the character as a alter ego of yourself, doing all the things you dream about in a world created by the game master, who acts as a director of sorts for the game, saying what is where, who is where and stuff like that. It is up to the players to create characters and play the game acting freely for the sake of adding life to the world.

Okay, the game master makes the world and the players play through the world. Now before you all jump in and say you want to be in control I would like to say that it is far more fun playing with the world from the character side, unless you are a control freak, but even then you might have fun!

This game is played either with your imagination or maybe with little models and chess or even Chinese checker pieces, etc. for the characters and monopoly houses can be used to visualize the town. That is one of the most satisfying things about the game, visualizing it. So now you have your link to the game, that you will be either satisfied with imagination, or, that you will use your creativity to make a visual game.

The game requires pen and paper though, as you will need to record your numbers for the future.

This game works by the players creating characters and adventuring in the world of the game master. Take this example:

John Joe is a character of a players. As soon as John Joe is finished getting created by the player he is thrust into the world in a location of the game masters choosing, usually in a bar or something. As soon as John is in the world he is free to act as long as he doesn't do something the game master says he cannot do. For example, let's say John starts in a bar, the player might want their character to look around. The game master tells the player that John sees, for example, a bearded man by the bar, a barman, and that the bar is well lit and messy. Let's say the player wants John to talk to the bearded man, so the player tells the game master what he wants to do with his character. The game master says it is okay, he may do that. Then John, the character, speaks to the other character under the control of the game master, so, the bearded man and bar man are under the control of the game master. The game master asks the player what they want to say, and the player then says it to the game master as if he were the character, John Joe.

Let's say that the player says to the bearded man that he likes his beard, it is up to the game master what the bearded man says back to him. The game master then says that the bearded man strokes his beard and says that it took a long time to grow. Then the player says that he wants to say that he is looking for an adventure, and the game master says that the bearded man says he knows of pick pocket that could do with some sorting out. Now if the player wants to he may write something on his character sheet like that they need to find and capture a pickpocket. The player says he will sort it out to the bearded man and then there is an adventure to be had.

Now the player says to the game master that he wants to leave the bar and look for the pickpocket. The game master asks where he would like to start looking, and the player says that their character John would like to look in some random allies. The game master decides what he finds in each alley that he searches, and the player is free to make John Joe leave his adventure at any time, but decides to keep looking for the pickpocket. He may talk to anyone he meets that wants to speak to him - entirely up to the game master - and may take up new quests. What he finds in the world is up to the game master, but the player controlling John Joe is free to do as they please unless the game master says otherwise.

Now let's say that John gets into a fight, how does that work you might ask? Well there are very specific rules for fighting, covered in the combat section.

Basically picture the game master as a director on a movie set and the players act out their characters as actors would. The director sets everything up and organizes everything and the actors work with it as they please unless the game master says otherwise. As you play for longer and longer your character develops and becomes more powerful, gaining money, spells, skills and all sorts of things. It is recommended that you have at least two players for maximum enjoyment, but having more than four could be a bit difficult for the game master. It is possible that your character could die, and unless they are raised from the dead the player needs to make a new character or stop playing the game for the time being. Before you play you need to make a character. The game master should sit with you while you make your character, and is free to say what is allowed and what is not allowed. If the game master says that there will be no rolling for combat, that is the rule. If the game master says that there should be no spells, that is the rule.

This game is about tribes of animal clans that try to live together, and you get good animals, neutral animals, and you get evil animals. You do not get to choose whether your animal is a bad dog or a good cat, and the game master may ignore your behaviour all together. One thing you do get to control is personality and you need to stick to it when you make your character and decide what their personality is in the beginning. If the game master says yes, you may change your personality during the game if you have a good reason.

Now you understand how it works, the rest is all rules!

Fist thing you need to do is think up a name for your character, and please do not call them John Joe! After you have thought out a name, write it down. Please don't change your name during an adventure...

Then you choose a path of animal, as that is the focus of this game, playing a type of animal out on adventures. Then you choose a personality that doesn't clash with your path or clan. Then you create your statistics for your character, how clever and strong they are, stuff like that. Then you choose skills with your skills and spells with your creation points. Then you buy equipment... and then you play!
